All about packing the right stuff …

So today we started getting our things together after having spent 4 hours to pick up the camper van yesterday – traffic around here is crazy these days.

Packing took us around 4 1/2 hours.

As this is not the first MTB trip to the mountains, I’d say I already have a pretty solid list of essential things I need to pack for moutainbiking, but the camping thing adds another dimension to it for which there is no space in that tiny car – I thought.

Good news, all I wanted to take has fit in the van and there’s even space left.

So this is the packing list:

Clothes for cycling

  • Bike jerseys, long sleeves and shirts
  • Bike shorts, out of stretch material for the tours, more robust shorts for the bike park
  • Full finger gloves
  • Cycling socks
  • Base layers
  • Headbands, buff
  • Rain Shorts
  • Rain jacket
  • Wind jacket
  • Vest (Endura Pro SL Primaloft®)
  • Waterproof socks (Sealskinz)

Bike Protection Wear

  • Elbow and knee pads (again soft ones for the trail tours, robust ones for the bike park)
  • Safety jacket
  • Tour & bike park bike helmet (I will take my Giro Switchblade with me, so I can save the space for the downhill helmet)
